Here comes the bride…

‘Wedding’. A word that with it brings so many images to the mind. We think of loved ones, flowers, dancing and white, of speeches that make us laugh, of dresses that make us sigh and of vows that make us cry. I have been to plenty of weddings in my time at hotels, boutiques, castles and tipis- each one has been unique and different, personal to the bride and groom’s own tastes.

I just love ’em, can you tell?

I am now in the late 20somethin’ age bracket when my closest and most dear friends  are marrying those they love the most.

This weekend saw the turn of two of my very best friends that I have been lucky enough to know since University. I don’t want to blog about the ins and outs of their big day, there are some things which, to me, are to be valued as private and personal. However, that being said I felt I couldn’t let it pass by without recognition.

As this wedding took place September, I chose to make the most out of the sunshine and hold on to summer. I bought this little Phillip Lim number a few years ago at a little boutique in Harrogate and have worn it at any opportunity since! It is made of the softest silk that hangs beautifully and feels almost… effortless to wear.

Dress: Phillip Lim; shoes: Next; clutch: vintage.

She looked like a princess, he looked like his world had just been made complete.

For the occasion, I wanted to make them something personal. So, I made a small watercolour-based print based on their colour scheme, hand- finished with gilt and materials from their wedding invitations.

I didn’t want to show the whole print as it includes a personal message for the happy couple, but it also contains one of my favourite quotes from Literature about Marriage.

Simple, isn’t it? Well, to me so is the idea of two of my nearest and dearest agreeing to spend their lives together.

To the happy couple!
